Nathan and I went to the culmination presentation
of Evan's 5th grade Japanese study!
His teacher has been doing this unit
with his students for years.
The Japanese students at the local
Community College are involved
as they teach the kids some writing & origami.
They all have a great time!
The kids made and built this puppet stage for their plays!
That was the background for Evan's group's play.
They also made their puppets!
Evan's is a monkey for the play
'Why the Jellyfish Has No Bones'
that he was in.
(I was able to help by contributing material for the kimonos
and making all of the kimono ties. =)
The kids also made these umbrellas for one of the songs and dances
'Japanese Rain Song'
that they performed!
Afterwards we all enjoyed a pot-luck lunch together =)
They did a FANTASTIC job!

What a neat cultural experience for the kids! Very cute little puppets :)
