One more fall birthday!

Nathan has a love for trains! We share this love. He looks through our book Seattle Then and Now and notices all the trains,
we also discovered the cute children's show, Chuggington, and he uses his train vocabulary. So I thought this would be the perfect birthday surprise for him. His Grandma Knowlton came with us on an Amtrak train ride from Edmonds to Seattle the morning of his birthday. The weather was clear the day before and the day after his birthday =( but we didn't let that dampen our mood!

Here it comes!

With lunchbox in hand,

All Aboard!

Loving the ride!
Junior Conductor hat compliments of the Edmonds train station =)
Nathan wanted me to ask the Conductor if he could just sit on the caboose.
Someday Nathan you will...
A half an hour went by way too quickly for this Junior Conductor! His grandpa came and picked us up at the end of the tracks, King Street Station. Both grandmas and grandpas and his great grandma came over for presents, cake and ice cream that evening. His dad left for a week long work training in OK that morning, so we missed him at the festivities. Nathan wanted a white cake with white frosting (we used whipped topping) and white sprinkles this year. That may have been the easiest request yet.
Happy 4th birthday Nathan!

  1. I love how easy to please Nathan is! He looks so calm -- like he's taking it all in, and even though he's loving it, it's no big deal. =) What a fun birthday surprise!

  2. He is too cute! He reminds me a lot of Jordan that age - with that intense love of trains.

  3. The white cake with white frosting and white sprinkles makes me laugh for some reason. What a sweetheart. The train ride sounds like it was the perfect surprise for Nathan!
